Jalal Abdulaal
Senior Consultant
Jalal started his career in 1978 working as a warehouse supervisor for a Bahraini supermarket. Jalal moved around within this retail operation until he became the General Manager. Six years later Jalal took sales management responsibilities within Nader Trading in Bahrain, the local distributors of Master Foods, Kraft and Unilever’s Lipton tea. In 1991Nader Trading was acquired by BMMI, a leading trading house in Bahrain. This gave Jalal exposure to all key FMCG job roles and the opportunity to work with many principals such as Henkel, Colgate Palmolive, Reckitt and Coleman and United Biscuits. It also required Jalal to cover other markets, namely Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia which broadened his experience of the Middle East.
In 1994 Jalal made a deliberate cross-move from Market Management to Human Resources within BMMI. This HR role plus the sixteen years in sales and distribution gave Jalal the hands on experience and real ability to raise the level of performance of FMCG businesses. Jalal’s core focus in BMMI was in coaching, training and analysing performance and on the design and implementation of performance management systems.
Jalal left BMMI at the end of 1999 to work as a Trainer, Coach and HR Consultant. He joined Glendinning Middle East in November 2007 as a Senior Consultant concentrating on raising the capability of commercial teams through training, coaching and the use of effective competency based performance management systems and tools.
